With plans to open in late July, The Bite Market in Old Towne Orange will feature a variety of local produce, eco-friendly products, as well as gluten and dairy free foods.

The market is the brainchild of owner Bridget Reilly, whose dealings with constant ailments and allergies led her to a nutritional therapist who suggested a more natural diet to stop her intolerances.

“I became frustrated with the limitations that I had for food options and thought that I might be able to assist others who would like to follow a gluten free, dairy free diet but have trouble finding healthy, tasty, convenient options all in one place,” Reilly said.

The new market will be making local produce available to everyone and with Reilly’s stamp of approval: “There will not be any need to read labels and no more wasting money on awful flavors.”

The 1,700-square-foot store will feature an abundance of products, while the back area will be reserved for presentations and group meetings.

“The section will be ready for speakers and meetings,” said Reilly, who lives in Orange. “It will be dedicated to offering support and education for the health of individuals as well as for the planet.”

The new space will be located in the downtown Orange next to the natural remedy store Licata Nutrition Center on North Glassell Street.

An opening date has not been scheduled. Stay tuned for more details, and photos.

The new market comes amid a retail revolution in Old Towne Orange. Many antique shops are closing down, giving way to new dining establishments and retailers.  On Saturday, Laurenly boutique is opening its doors at 10 a.m.  (Read more about the designer apparel store at the Register’s StyleBinge blog.)

A candy store, and a craft brew tasting shop by The Bruery are also slated to open in the historic downtown.

The Bite Market address: 162-B North Glassell St. Orange, CA, 92866. (714)288-9003
